Why FoundationMED?

FoundationMED provides a full spectrum functional medicine program for older children and adults seeking to optimize health and wellness. At the heart of the functional medicine approach is to work from the bottom-up to understand and address the root-causes of your disturbed physiology or to optimize wellness.

Our physicians go beyond conventional medicine and standard of care by staying up to date with research and (the utilization and knowledge of) appropriate advanced testing methodologies.

We strive to balance the views of conventional and functional medicine to provide optimized care for our patients. We can do precisely this because our Physicians are fully accredited MD's or DO's in addition to having advanced training in Functional Medicine (A4M, IFM, Bredesen, Opus23, others). Our Health Coaches are similarly fully trained and accredited (and work very closely with our physicians).

We provide a comprehensive therapeutic treatment plan for each and every visit, and this can be augmented with participation in our Health Coach program for maximum utility and personalized integration into your lifestyle.

We utilize Patient Coordinators to help smooth communications and interactions with our office. In addition, our Health Coaches provide incredibly helpful methodologies to appropriately implement the sometimes comprehensive treatment plans.

In addition, an evaluation by FoundationMED can help to identify potential physiologic imbalances before obvious symptoms are apparent, and optimize your underlying health and wellness as a preventative medicine method.

Bioidentical Hormones

It is clear that hormones play a crucial role in physiologic processes that maintain health and wellness (homeostasis). Hormones are proteins that are produced by endocrine organs such as the pituitary, adrenal, thyroid, testes, and ovary.

Bowel Health

Advanced research over the past several decades has clearly shown that an unhealthy gut contributes to a wide range of diseases such as diabetes, obesity, autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, autism, depression, chronic fatigue, skin diseases, and many others.

Bredesen Protocol

The Bredesen Protocol is a comprehensive personalized program designed to improve cognition and reverse the cognitive decline Alzheimer’s and related disorders. It prevents Alzheimer’s in those at risk.

Cardiometabolic Disease

Cardiometabolic disease may be an unfamiliar term for you. In a nutshell, it is a new umbrella term used to define the risk relationship between cardiovascular disease (heart attack, atherosclerosis) and diabetes.

Dirty Genes

Dr. Lynch wrote the Dirty Genes book to introduce the public to the incredible world of genetics, epigenetics and methylation. As these (methylation and epigenetics) are key core issues that very much relate to basic physiology, it is important to both understand the nuances of methylation and applying this information clinically.

General Wellness

FoundationMED is so named because we feel that the key to health and vitality is a strong metabolic foundation. We believe that core clinical imbalances underlie the expression of many disease states that we find ourselves in - particularly as we age.

Happy Heart Program

FoundationMED has developed an exciting cardiovascular health/cholesterol program solidly based on functional medicine principles and current research. By utilizing the latest research, our program is designed to integrate state of the art methods for enhancing cardiovascular health and addressing cholesterol issues.

HPA Axis Dysfunction

When cortisol production and breakdown are appropriate and normal, well - all is usually good. However, when we find ourselves in a situation where the cortisol levels or pattern are not normal (hyper-cortisolism, hypo-cortisolism, or some form of diurnal dysrhythmia), the HPA axis (Hypothalamus/Pituitary/Adrenal Axis) is not functioning normally and needs to be corrected.

Methylation Analysis

We have advanced training in all things Methylation. Methylation is a complex physiologic process that impacts almost every area of your health, and is the second most common process that occurs in the human body - creating cellular energy.

ProLon Program

ProLon® is a 5-day dietary program that nourishes your body while promoting regenerative and rejuvenating changes, including effects on a wide range of markers that contribute to aging, such as cholesterol, inflammation, and fasting glucose.

Weight Loss

FoundationMED feels that weight loss, not a temporary change in weight but true weight loss, must be realized in the context of the functional medicine approach. Understanding and correcting underlying core clinical imbalances such as Leptin Resistance is the key to success - working closely with our patients to do so. This is not a templated "program" but a physician supervised journey to improve core clinical imbalances and thus lose weight and improve health.
